Designed by Harold Bolas, built at Yate 1928-29. C of A 25 Jun 1930. Sold to Allen Algernon Bathurst (Lord Apsley), Dec 1932, damaged beyond repair in a forced landing at Herongate, Rickmansworth, Herts, 20 March 1934, caused by the Elf's reliance on a fuel pump rather than the simplicity of a gravity-fed system. Registration G-AAFH cancelled by the Air Ministry on 2 Aug 1934 due to "destruction or permanent withdrawl from use of aircraft". Photo from Don L. Brown.

On display on the Grand Opening Day of the Historic Aircraft Museum. Privately owned by William Nobbs and lodging temporarily. Registered to the Shuttleworth Trust in August1980. Still airworthy with them in 2022.

These are evocative occasions when only in the still evening summer air is it possible for such fragile aircraft as the Blackburn Monoplane to fly safely, in gentle circuits of the airfield.

Two classic British touring biplanes of around 1930 - the Spartan Arrow, on the left, and the even more obscure Parnall Elf.

Only three Elfs were ever built, but one is still airworthy as part of the Shuttleworth Collection.
