The Potez 53 was a French low-wing enclosed cockpit single-seat cantilever monoplane racing aircraft built specifically to compete in the 1933 Coupe Deutsch de la Meurthe race, which it won outright. The plane was subsequently modifies to make it even faster and in total three variants were produced. This is the first plane on display in its unmodified form.

This unique aircraft was built in 1933 specifically for the French Coupe Deutsch de la Meurthe air race. On 29th September, 1933 it travelled 2000 km in 6 hours 11 minutes and 45 seconds. It is seen here in the Musee de l'Air prior to the move of the museum to Le Bourget
