The prototype of the F3B series (Model 74) first flew on 2 March 1927. It was tested by the USN as the XF3B-1. Modified as the Model 77 and production orders placed by the USN for 73 F3B-1's for service aboard USS Langley, Lexington and Saratoga. Boeing photo.
