The Fokker S.IV was a well-known trainer type in the Luchtvaart Afdeling (LVA, or Army Aviation department) of the Netherlands Army. It became the Royal Netherlands Air Force in 1953. The S.IV could be powered by several engine types, most usually the Mongoose engine. 108 however had the 110 h.p. Oberursel engine. 122488/ collectie Het Utrechts Archief

First flown in 1924, the S.IV was the standard elementary trainer in the Dutch army air force. This aircraft has been refitted with a 130-hp Armstrong-Siddeley Mongoose engine. It is seen with another S.IV, 116, and two Fokker C.1 advanced trainers, 500 and 539. Photo from: Bodo Sandberg collection
