By this time the RMAF had closed and its aircraft were stored at the old airbase, which was also closed.

Prototype. First flew as HB-HOH in 1983. Cancelled from the register in 2010. Preserved at Lucerne Museum of Transport. 100 of the type were produced for Malaysia and Indonesia.

The M3-160 Swiss Trainer was a design aimed at simplified maintenance, built and first flown by the Daetwyler company in 1983. Many sections of the aircraft such as the control surfaces are interchangeable with minimal modification. In 1993 design rights were sold to SME in Malaysia and twenty were supplied to the R Malaysian AF for basic training, operating until the late 2000s. This one has been preserved back at its place of conception.

The Swisstrainer was designed to have as many parts as possible to be interchangeable. The concept never caught on and only two were built with this initial prototype placed on display. In 1993, all rights to the design were acquired by SME Aerospace of Malaysia, who produced it as the Aero Tiga for the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
