The North Sea flood of 1953 killed over 300 people in Britain too, but the southwest of the Netherlands was the worst hit and this Royal Navy Dragonfly was one of a number of foreign helicopters to come to the rescue here. This airframe was preserved at Southend, but damaged by a fire in 1972 and later scrapped.
