The accompanying text reads: "Delivery of the first 747SP for Pan Am On the first flight from Seattle (KSEA) to New York, the aircraft already transported cargo. In this photo you can see 2 other 747SP's being prepared for delivery; the second aircraft for Pan Am (N532PA), the first 747SP for Iran Air (EP-IAA) and the first 747SP for South African (ZS-SPD). At that time, 17 747SP's were ordered." Amusingly the text calls this aircraft the '747SP Junior Jumbo'. Delivered to United in February 1986 as N143UA. Withdrawn from use in August 1995, scrapped at Ardmore (KADM) late 1997/early 1998. This photo was added on 8 December 2020, and has since been viewed 421 times. |
