VH-AGL's registration was cancelled in 1958 after an accident in Queensland. It was rebuilt at Maitland but remained stored and unregistered. About 1976 it was transferred to Griffith, NSW, for further restoration work. It was flown to Sydney - Bankstown in 1980 under a ferry permit and became VH-AGO in March that year (-AGL had been reallocated). But a year later it was cancelled again over concerns about the quality of its glued wings. In 1984 it was back on the register although it remained a restoration project that was not finally finished until 1987.
