One of a batch of incomplete DH-94s shipped to Australia following the decision to terminate production in the UK. The aircraft were completed by DH Australia and delivered to the RAAF which did not want them. Most served as station or squadron hacks with A21-4 at Cootamundra until January 1945 when it was grounded pending disposal. Became VH-AFT in May 1945.

G-AFTH during basic trainer trials soon after the A&AEE had moved from Martlesham Heath. The DH-94 was not adopted by the RAF. Instead the jigs and tools and all unfinished airframes and components were shipped to Australia where production continued. About 40 aircraft came off the Australian line but only four of them were entirely Australian. The RAAF, in common with the RAF, preferred the DH82 Tiger Moth and its DH-94s were mainly used as squadron hacks. G-AFTH meanwhile was impressed into the RAF as HM585 and did not survive the war. This Moth Minor is actually a pre-war civil import. It was allocated the UK rego G-AFNN to the Hull Aero Club in 1939 but appears to have been deregistered the same day. It was registered VH-ACR on 17 Jan 1940 until impressed as the last of the RAAF's Moth Minors A21-42 in Nov 1941. Returned after the war to VH-ACR in 1945 until withdrawn in 1947. VH-AGL's registration was cancelled in 1958 after an accident in Queensland. It was rebuilt at Maitland but remained stored and unregistered. About 1976 it was transferred to Griffith, NSW, for further restoration work. It was flown to Sydney - Bankstown in 1980 under a ferry permit and became VH-AGO in March that year (-AGL had been reallocated). But a year later it was cancelled again over concerns about the quality of its glued wings. In 1984 it was back on the register although it remained a restoration project that was not finally finished until 1987.
