The Kangaroo was designed as a maritime reconnaissance and torpedo aircraft and, although only 20 examples were built, it was employed with some succes against U-boats in 1918. Blackburn subsidiary North Sea Aerial Navigation Co operated eight after the end of the war, converted to carry up to eight passengers. Three of these gave joyrides at the ELTA fair in Amsterdam in August and September 1919, taking an estimated 1400 people up in the air. The same construction number is given for G-EAIT so it may be incorrect. Photo from: Amsterdam City Archives This photo was added on 30 December 2020, and has since been viewed 1388 times. |
