Twelve TWA DC-3s and DC-2s lined up. The second DC-3 is NC17321. All seem to wear the slogan 'The Lindbergh Line', which was done away with from late 1938. Newark, 'the first major airport in the New York area', was the world's busiest in the late 1930s. However, in a quarrel over costs the airlines all moved to La Guardia in 1940 and the huge new hangar in the background, sized for the DC-4(E), was leased to the Brewster aircraft company.
