What a tragedy to see this historic aircraft derelict and de-registered. She was one of two 560s purchased by the Department of Civil Aviation and registered on 30 March 1959, one of the first of the new breed of post-war, high-performance light twins to come to Australia. She was delivered by DCA pilots from the USA via Europe and the Middle East, arriving at Melbourne/Essendon on 17 May 1959. VH-CAW became the South Australia/Northern Territory Region's aircraft based in Adelaide. This photo is copyright © Phil Vabre, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
