What a tragedy to see this historic aircraft semi-derelict and de-registered. She was one of two 560s purchased by the Department of Civil Aviation and registered on 30 March 1959, one of the first of the new breed of post-war, high-performance light twins to come to Australia. The layout of the cockpit is original, but many instruments are replacements, as is most of the avionic equipment.

She was delivered by DCA pilots from the USA via Europe and the Middle East, arriving at Melbourne/Essendon on 17 May 1959. VH-CAW became the South Australia/Northern Territory Region's aircraft based in Adelaide.
