Built at Hawarden, XK637 was delivered to the RAF November 27th 1956. Laterly serving with 4 FTS at Valley until replaced by the Gnat T1 in September 1963. It became one of 67 Vampire T11 sold back to Hawker Siddeley between 1963 and 1969 for potential refurbish/modification and future sales. The aircraft were stored at Woodford and Hawarden. Most of these Vampire T11 were eventually disposed of to museums, technical colleges, HSA Apprentice training schools and Air Training Corps Squadrons. XK637 was donated to 1855 Squadron Royton ATC.
