This Huey was allocated the US serial 63-13587 for administrative purposes, but was delivered new to 9 Sqn RAAF in 1964. Shipped to Vietnam, it served there 1966-68. During that time it saw action at most of the major Australian battles, including being shot down in April 1967. As a result a new tailboom had to be grafted on to the forward fuselage.
