The Short Bomber had a production run of 83 aircraft for both the RFC and the RNAS. The tiny aircraft parked in front of 9340 is the Port Victoria P.V.8 N540, developed from the P.V.7. Both were intended as ship-launched fighters specifically to bring down Zeppelins. As the Zeppelin danger ended, so did the need for the P.V.8.
