During the late 1950s, the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland started the construction of the Kariba Dam to build power stations to support the infrastructure of what today is Zambia and Zimbabwe. The dam was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother on 17 May 1960. The flag on the car appears to be her personal standard.
