806 Sqn Seahawk FGA.6 taking the wire on HMS Albion at sea in 1960. The port undercarriage leg has failed to lower. The result of this can be seen in the second photograph I have uploaded. WV806 was sold as scrap from Belfast in February 1968. I have seen this incident logged elsewhere as 1st September 1959 but this does not tally with 806's embarkment on HMS Albion which was from February to December 1960. Location is probable but not confirmed. Photographer not known. Photo obtained from former Fleet Air Arm pilot in 1971. This photo was added on 1 May 2022, and has since been viewed 336 times. |
