Sea Hornet landing, probably on HMS Glory, in 1953. If the date is correct it was coded 531/HF at that time and operated by 728 NAS from Hal Far, Malta. 806 Sqn Seahawk FGA.6 after taking the wire on HMS Albion at sea in 1960 with the port undercarriage leg retracted. WV806 was sold as scrap from Belfast in February 1968. I have seen this incident logged elsewhere as 1st September 1959 but this does not tally with 806's embarkment on HMS Albion which was from February to December 1960. The final Phantom cruise by VF-142 was to the Mediterranean on board USS America in 1974, during which cruise this picture was taken. They received Tomcats after their return to the US. This F-4J was later upgraded to F-4S.
