USMC F4U-4s were used to provide security patrols during the Operation Castle nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll and also decontamination testing, with four operated as drones. 81624 is seen here being decontaminated. This photo is sometimes said to be at Parry Island. This comes from photos in a report purporting to show aircraft being decontaminated on Parry. However there was no airstrip on that island and elsewhere the same report says the aircraft were based at Enewetak.
