Photographer unknown. After retirement by the RAF in 1975, XL658 became EI-BBY with a company called Interconair, which specialised in exporting beef from Ireland to other European countries. Its career was cut short on 30 September 1977 when a propellor malfunction on short final to runway 24 at Shannon led to a deviation from the approach and a crash-landing in a farmer's field across the road. The aircraft was a write-off but all on board walked away. This photo was added on 25 August 2022, and has since been viewed 580 times. |
