The Lockheed L1011 was Delta's wide body workhorse right from it's introduction in 1973 through the 2001 when the type was retired from the fleet. N725DA was one of 71 Tristars operated by Delta over that time (almost 30 per cent of the production run). It was delivered new to Delta February 1979 and retired December 1998, eventually broken up for parts.
