This is one of 1550 Tiger Moths built in Canada from a total of around 7800. The Canadian version was less nimble than the British version due to a jettisonable cockpit canopy, cockpit heating, wheel brakes, a tail wheel and a more powerful engine. However , these modifications were much more suitable for harsher Canadian conditions. This aircraft served with 12 EFTS, Goderich, ON and 4 EFTS, Windsor Mills, QC until 1945. After a long period of storage it was made airworthy again by the CWHM in 1977. This photo is copyright © Alastair T. Gardiner, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
