Crashed/ditched in Lake Michigan on 24 November 1944 while attempting to land on the carrier USS Wolverine (IX64). 60 years later, the pilot said in a phone interview that he 'just crashed into the lake', like it ran out of fuel or something. The aircraft was recovered in April 2009 and restored at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola.
