The prototype Viscount on display to the press on a wet day - 2 September 1948 - at Brooklands Airfield, Weybridge, UK, now painted after its first flight on the 16 July 1948. The aircraft was written off after the right undercarriage collapsed during tropical climates tests at Khartoum, 27 August 1952.
