World's only original airworthy Peashooter at Planes of Fame Air Museum. The P-26 was USAAC's first all-metal monoplane fighter aircraft. The Model 248 first flew on 20 Mar 1932 and was a blend of old and new. Compared to biplanes, the new fighter had higher takeoff and landing speeds, which did much to bring paved runways. This P-26A was flown by USAAC in the Panama Canal Zone. It was acquired in 1957 from Fuerza AĆ©rea Guatemalteca. It wears the colors of 95th PS "Kicking Mule", 17th PG at March Field.
