Participating in the 1999 Air Show at CFB Comox. Built in 1943 for the USAAF as a Cessna UC-78B Bobcat, 43-32309. Carrying the WWII markings of a multi-engined trainer used in the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan by the RCAF, where the type was known as the Cessna Crane. The name "Big Bamboo", displayed on the engine nacelle is a reference to a wartime nickname for Bobcats and Cranes in their training role. Made mostly of wood with metal in short supply, they were referred to as "The Bamboo Bomber". Re-registered to an owner in Fairbanks, Alaska as N184EN in 2000. This photo is copyright © David A.
