Taken on strength by the Royal Canadian Air Force on May 28, 1951 with serial 18013. Updated serial 12013 after 1970, the aircraft was sold surplus and registered with the original DHC registration used for production flight testing. Sold in the USA to become NN4407B, the aircraft was modified with a Lycoming IO-540 engine, enlarged rudder and other aerodynamic refinements by 1998.
