84001 was originally leased to the Flygvapnet in February 1965 having the FMS 64-0546, thereby becoming the first Hercules in service in a European country before being bought outright in September 1965. The plane was retired in 2014 and stored for many years at Marshall's of Cambridge (UK) before being returned to Sweden in 2022. The plane is currently stored outside the main entrance to Aeroseum, along with 84003 out of shot the right. It was originally intended that 84001 be preserved at the Flygvapenmuseum at Linköping/Malmen, so time will tell. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
