The PT-1/PT-3 series of Consolidated primary trainers was the bridge between the Jennys and Standards of the World War I era and the later Stearman. From 1925 to 1935, most Army and Navy airmen took their primary instruction in aircraft of this family. The remains of a PT-1 were donated to the EAA in 1986 and this restoration project was completed in 1998, powered by a Continental engine. It flew for several years from Pioneer before being preserved at the museum.
