The PT-1/PT-3 series of Consolidated primary trainers was the bridge between the Jennys and Standards of the World War I era and the later Stearman. From 1925 to 1935, most Army and Navy airmen took their primary instruction in aircraft of this family. The remains of a PT-1 were donated to the EAA in 1986 and this restoration project was completed in 1998, powered by a Continental engine. It flew for several years from Pioneer before being preserved at the museum. Listed by the FAA as a Poberezny PT-3

In 1986 the remains of a PT-1 were donated to the EAA Airventure Museum. The museum staff and volunteers went to work restoring the Trusty and it was intended that it would be flown. The PT-1 was powered by a Wright/Hispano-Suiza V-8 water-cooled engine but as spare parts for that engine were rare, it was decided to install a 220hp Continental radial engine which made it comparable in appearance with the 220hp Wright J-5 Whirlwind-powered PT-3. In 1998 the project was completed and it was registered as N31PT (still current in 2024). It flew for several years at Pioneer airport.
