Built in 1961 as F8U-2NE, redesignated F-8E in 1962 and upgraded to F-8J by 1969. This aircraft crashed near NAS Miramar, Ca on 26 February 1971 when operated by VF-124. It was restored and in the 1980s placed at the NAS Oceana gate. It was seen here in 2017 wearing VF-11 Red Rippers colours from the early 1960s.
