Built for the USAF in 1952 as C-118A serial 51-3834, which the FAA quoted as its c/n, it served until retired to the MASDC "boneyard" at Tucson in April 1975. In April 1979 it was civilianised as N1036F and acquired by NAC in 1981, serving with them until 2001 when it was withdrawn from use. In September 2009 it was bought by Everts Air Cargo as a spares source to support their DC-6 fleet, and it's derelict hulk is thought to live on at their Fairbanks base. Note that evidence of its USAF history can still be discerned on the lower forward fuselage. This photo is copyright © Roger Syratt, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
