The identity of this Noratlas is uncertain. It is one of Israel's three early N.2501IS aircraft. 4X-FAP, 4X-FAQ or 4X-FAR, and almost certainly ex 4X-FAP. It flew supplies from France to Israel just before and during the Suez Crisis in 1956. As can be seen it carried El Al markings with registration 4X-ALH, but it was never actually registered as such, nor operated by El Al. Indeed it is seen here at the front in the Sinai, one day after Sharm el Sheikh was captured by Israeli forces. Location assumed to be the modern airport site. A perfect example of airport security in the 50's. Note the "security fence" that trails off to a sign that says " No entry past this point".......naturally I didn't pass that sign. Brisbane "Eagle Farm" airport.
