This former 184th TFS Super Sabre is technically still a F-100F although it is already painted in the QF-100 colors. The aircraft arrived at AMARC on 25 September 1979, received inventory code FE603, and is seen here when it was about to leave for Tracor Flight Systems Inc., Mojave (CA). With Tracor it was modified to QF-100F. It was later assigned to the 475th WEG at Tyndall AFB (FL). It's fate is unknown to me, but most probably the aircraft was shot down over the Gulf of Mexico

This S-49C was taken on charge in Jul-1953 by the Yugoslav Air Force with serial 2400. The S-49C was decommissioned in 1961 and this one went to the Tehnicki Muzej in Zagreb. In 1981 it was transferred to the Muzej Vazduhoplovsta Beograd in exchange for a P-47 Thunderbolt.

When Yugoslavia under Tito fell out with the USSR in 1948, Soviet military supplies were denied so the need for an interim fighter-bomber of indigenous design came about. The result was the Ikarus S-49, based on Yugoslavia's pre-war IK-3, but developed by 1952 into an all-metal machine powered by a Hispano-Suiza engine from France. Although fairly soon superseded by modern US jets, 112 S-49Cs were built by Ikarus and Soko by 1954 and served till 1961. This is the only surviving example in the world
