In Jan. 1991 during Operation Desert Storm, Capt. Paul Johnson flew this Warthog on an eight-hour rescue support mission, for which he was awarded the Air Force Cross. One year later this aircraft was retired and placed on display at the National Museum of the USAF.

This A-7 was flown on 18th Nov. 1972 by Maj. Colin A. Clarke on a nine-hour rescue support mission in SE Asia for which he received the Air Force Cross. This aircraft arrived at the National Museum of the USAF for display in 1992. The Skywarrior in the background is one of the few regrets about my visit to NMUSAF as I just couldn't get a shot of it that I was happy with.
