After 26 years of service this JetStar was retired to the NMUSAF in July 1987 where it is now on display in the Presidential Gallery of the newer, fourth building. Lyndon B. Johnson used the VC-140B fleet extensively during his time both as VP and President and sometimes affectionately referred to them as 'Air Force One Half' due to their smaller size.

The VC-6A was primarily used to transport President Johnson and his family between Bergstrom AFB, TX and the family ranch near Stonewall. The aircraft became informally known as the 'Lady Bird Special', a play on the childhood nickname "Lady Bird" of First Lady Claudia Johnson. This plane was retired to the NMUSAF in September 1985 and is now on display in the Presidential Gallery within the newer, fourth building.
