One of ATAC's Kfirs, of which they operated six examples at the time. This one is the former 822 of the Israeli Air Force. It was registered to ATAC as N402AX on 21 Sep 2005, but was seen flying with them as "822KF" well before that date. It was reportedly registered as N822KF on 20 Nov 2002, but mysteriously the official US registers between Nov 2002 and Sep 2005 show no record of that registration.

The L-39 is something of a widowmaker among loaded private pilots in America, but ATAC flies on behalf of the US military.

This former Israeli Air Force Kfir C2 (serial 928) was sold to the civil market late 2005. The aircraft was incorperated in the civil fleet of ATAC, a commercial company that provides adversary training for the US Forces.

On 6 March 2012, this IAI Kfir C2, former Israeli Air Force serial 820, flew under contract of the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), but crashed while attempting an emergency landing at NAS Fallon (NV). The pilot reported emergency fuel status prior to the accident. Unfortunately, he was killed on the scene and his airplane was completely destroyed by impact forces and postcrash fire.

Very nice to see an active Kfir in the static display at the Aviation Nation Air Show.

With the very last rays of sunshine I was able to photograph this 1958 built Hawker Hunter operated by ATAC. How often do you see a flying Hunter in the States these days? This Hunter was in good company of sistership N324AX.

The Kfir was an Israeli development of the Mirage 5, featuring canards and the American J79 engine. In the 1980s some early Kfirs were leased by the US Navy as F-21 aggressor aircraft. Today, ATAC from Newport News flies a couple of Kfirs in a similar capacity.
