Purchased by the Department of Civil Aviation it was first flown as PH-FAZ on the 11th os September 1959. It Entered the Australian Register on the 28th of September 1959. it was cancelled from the Australian Register on the 27th of June 2006. It is now located at the South Australian Aviation Museum at Port Adelaide.

VH-DHK in the colour scheme of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation.This Dove 5 arrived in Australia in 1960 destined for the Northern Territory Medical Service. It also was registered in New Zealand as ZK-BZP. in 1984 It was acquired by the National Museum of Australia in Canberra, but is kept in storage.

VH-CAT was delivered to the Department of Civil Aviation in 1959 and operated on calibration work until 1978, when it was sold to the CSIRO. Over the next 20 years it was used for scientific research which at times required being fitted with a long nose probe, which earned it the nickname Cyrano, after Cyrano de Bergerac. VH-CAT was withdrawn from use and eventually displayed at the South Australia Aviation Museum.

CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) was a government research laboratory. The DC-3 was used for experimental work such as radio physics and rain-making until withdrawn from use in 1979.
