This A-7A is loaded out with two inert 1000 lb. Mk52 aerial mines (one under each wing). 153173 was assigned to VA-93 from early 1976 through 24 April 1977. Retired to MASDC on 2 June 1977, it was eventually converted to an A-7P for the Portuguese AF with s/n 5533 (later 15533). It was lost on 25 July 1995 near Baleizao, Portugal due to engine failure. The pilot had a successful ejection.

A VA-93 A-7A over the South China Sea. I took this slide from another VA-93 A-7A. Note the speed brake under the fuselage is not completely flush, which is not normal. VA-93 was conducting operations from USS Midway (CV-41) during this period. 153140 was assigned to VA-93 from 1973 through 24 April 1977. Retired to MASDC on 27 May 1977. In 1980 it as assigned to the Portuguese A-7P program as a parts airframe.

This pilot is conducting field carrier landing practice (FCLP) at NAS Lemoore under the guidance of a Training LSO. After being field qualified, the pilot will go out to an aircraft carrier and qualify in both day and night operations. 153221 retired to MASDC on 9 January 1977. It later was converted to an A-7P for the Portuguese AF with s/n 5515 (later 15515). It was WFU in 1977.

This A-7A is loaded out with six live 1000 lb. Mk.83 bombs (three under each wing). This was a good load configuration for the A-7, as it was lower drag than having them mounted on multiple ejector racks (MERs). 152669 arrived at MASDC on 26 May 1977. It was used as a parts airframe for the Portuguese A-7P program. After that it was evidently sold surplus, and at last report was at the Tennessee Museum of Aviation in Sevierville, TN. awaiting restoration.

This Skyhawk flew at least from 1986 up to late 1990 with code/modex F-235 with Training Wing 5 and Training Squadron 86. The aircraft was struck of charge from US Navy inventory in 1995 and sold as N7051J to Mark Daniels, Palm Beach Garden (FL) on 4 September 1997. Later it became N132AT with the private adversary company Aircraft Tactical Advantage Co (ATAC). The Skyhawk crashed on 8 July 2010. Date and location of the picture are unknown.

This A-7A is loaded out with two live 2000 lb. Mk.84 bombs (one under each wing). VA-93 and VA-56, both aboard USS Midway, were the last two fleet A-7A squadrons (the Navy Reserve still had A-7As for a little while longer). On April 24th, three days after I took this slide, both squadrons flew off all the A-7As to NAS Cubi Point for return to the U.S. by ship. 153228 arrived at MASDC on 27 May 1977. It was later converted to an A-7P for the Portuguese AF with s/n 5517 (later 15517). Its flying days finally ended in 1994 and it was scrapped.
