This aircraft was expended 10 August 1989 as aQF-100D.

The aircraft was retired to MASDC at Tucson on 7th November 1978 but was later converted to QF-100D drone number 189 and was written off after being shot down on 10th August 1989. (Thanks to Joe Baugher's excellent US Military Serials web site for this information).

Re-registered as N302EA in early 1973, then as N781DL in June 1991. Written off in 1995 due to sudden decompression at 33000 feet on 24 September 1995, the cost of repairs being deemed to be uneconomic. (Aviocar XT.12-1 can be seen in the background with a drooping right wing, caused when the main spar failed as the result of a heavy landing after a display flight earlier that day.)

A great success: The Airbus A-300 family in contrast with a failure: the modernized Fouga 90 trainer lost the competition from the the Franco-German Alpha Jet.

A vain attempt to replace the successful Magister with a modernized version.

This was the largest aircraft that had visited Castle Donington at that time, taken there to be shown to the Rolls Royce employees that had developed the RB211 engine that powered the aircraft. Same registration N301EA later used on c/n 1002, following delivery in March 1973. This aircraft c/n 1003 then became N302EA. Taken on an old folding roll film camera and scanned from a 6 x 9 cm negative which was probably developed by me in print developer!
