Schiphol seventeen years before I scanned this in 2005. My favorite wide-body and companies that have since been renamed and vanished from the scene in Amsterdam. Both the Saudia plane and Air Lanka's 4R-ULB were getting ready to leave here. [Fuji RD100, Pentax MX]

Saw a shiny Aeroflot A320 at Schiphol the day I scanned this slide in 2004. Guess I'm not always in favour of progression...

A veteran of several famous US airlines this Ten-Eleven spent half of its active career with American Trans Air. Towards the end of the eighties and in 1990 it was leased on several occasions to Egypt Air, but also for some brief periods to Air Algérie. In this case, all that was changed on the outside were the titles.

Holding short of Rwy 02, note the inner props feathered to reduce cabin noise. Five weeks later this Dash went to Greenlandair as OY-CTC.

To my memory few aviation events have seen as much rain as IAT87. This arrival, with patron of the Air Tattoo HM King Hussein at the controls, was worth leaving shelter for a moment. Very appropriately registered JY-HKJ is clearly distinguished from other Tristars by its vast array of transmitters and receivers. In October 2001 the aircraft changed royal hands and became HZ-AB1.

Years ago, a lot of photos of this airframe could already be found online, including those of its sad end in 1996. However, hardly visible on those were the 'Instone Air Line' titles on the cargo doors. As I have this shot that shows them at least partly I gladly responded to a request to upload it. ZD948 was acquired from British Airways as a TriStar 500 just four months earlier. Here being a TriStar C1 passenger aircraft of the RAF it was still wearing the remains of its BA colours and 'last two' of its former registration G-BFCA. The aircraft would be converted into a K1 tanker version in 1985 and then a KC1 tanker-transport version with cargo door. It taxies out here for a full-length take-off from Brize. Departing before it is Hercules XV217 countering the crosswind from the north.

Heavily loaden with drop tanks and travel pods this 57FIS Phantom heads back to Keflavik from the last ever Air Tattoo to be held at Greenham Common. Two years later this F-4 was sold to Korea.

Starting up for another mission, this magnificent fire bomber was completing her nineteenth year of service with T & G at the photo date. She began her career in 1957 with Delta airlines and received that company's classic livery again after the summer of '99. Ten years later I saw her like that down south with International Air Response at Coolidge, AZ, where she still resides.
