Correct military serial 49-3242. According to Joe Bauger's website, aircraft remanufactured from an earlier AT-6 aircraft.

VH-HAJ was owned by warbird enthusiast Col Pay and had been on the Australian register just days when the photo was taken. The markings are fake, this T-6 being a remanufactured aircraft for the USAF with the serial 49-3186. It had no service with the USN. It was sold in the civil market as N2893G in 1963 and later N1751. The Australian registration was eventually applied to the fin.

In 1954, North American T-6s were among the first military aircraft which Japan was allowed to operate post-war, 195 eventually seeing service with the JASDF between 1955 and 1970. A further 62 were flown by the Navy

Remanufactured from an AT-6 this T-6G, or LT-6G, went to Austria in October 1959.
