This restored B-52 is part of the collections of the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History because it dropped a hydrogen bomb on Bikini Atoll during Operation Redwing Cherokee in May 1956, and later took part in additional nuclear testing during Operation Dominic in 1962.

Surf Air offers scheduled private charter flights its members, with most of its flights in California being operated by Advanced Air. In the San Francisco Bay Area, most Surf Air flights operate from San Carlos airport (SQL). I'm not sure why this flight came into San Jose.

I always found Air One's visual identity to be bland and uninspiring, but when I learned that "Airone" means "heron" in the Italian language, I realized that the name of the airline was clever. It's too bad that the airline didn't have more distinctive branding.

By 2008, Martinair had already ceased its short-haul operations. By 2011, the airline had ended its passenger services completely, and the MD-11s were all retired in 2016. It's sad to see the airline become a shadow of its former self.

Recently restored, this B-47E is on permanent loan from the USAF Museum in Dayton and is now part of the collections of the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History in Albuquerque. In its operational life, this particular aircraft served as a testbed for various projects, most notably the development of fly-by-wire systems. This angle shows the interesting configuration of the B-47's six engines.

Bright yellow 777s have become common at LAX during the pandemic, primarily operated by AeroLogic and Kalitta. I saw three during a pair of short visits on consecutive days. This one was delivered in June 2020.

Guam-based Asia Pacific Airlines has expanded its network to include Los Angeles and Seattle. This aircraft is departing LAX on a flight back to HNL on a somewhat dull morning. The aircraft was delivered to Condor Flugdienst in April 1992 as D-ABNN and started flying with Asia Pacific in August 2017.

I always thought that KD Avia had one of the best post-Soviet liveries of the Russian airlines, with its shark-like lines. This frame was delivered on February 25, 1988 to Transbrasil as PT-TEI, and it ended its flying days in Kaliningrad after an incident on October 2, 2008, in which the aircraft landed with the main gears retracted. It subsequently became a ground trainer.

Seen arriving at 2 p.m. local time from Copenhagen. It struck me at the time, and still does, that something about this particular SAS livery made the A340 resemble the Ilyushin Il-86 even more strongly than usual. Aircraft scrapped at Marana in 2021 after a period of storage.

Caught on final approach at much missed TXL. This little Fokker was delivered to KLM Cityhopper in February 1996 and had a long career with the airline that ended only in October 2017. It then went to Tus Airways of Cyprus in February 2018, but has been stored since February 2020.
