Magnificent machine about to touch down for the 1977 IAT, from 415 Sqn, Summerside, PEI. The Argus was a unique hybrid that employed the wings, tail surfaces and undercarriage of the Britannia, married to a new unpressurised fuselage of Canadian design and US engines. 10736 was stood down in 9.81 when replaced on maritime patrol by the CP-140 Aurora and scrapped

Perhaps a type that younger viewers won't readily recognise, the Argus was a piston-engined Britannia derivation which bridged the maritime patrol gap between Lancasters/Neptunes and the CP-140 Aurora (Orion). First flown in 1957, 33 were built and the last was retired in 1982. Six airframes survive, but not this one
