Just recently unveiled after restoration at the Palm Springs Air Museum. This Delta Dart is painted to represent a B-1B Chase Plane. Its last USAF service was as a target drone.

The 119th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS), part of the New Jersey Air National Guard 177th Fighter Interceptor Group and located at Atlantic City Air National Guard Base (NJ), was equipped with the F-106 Delta Dart since 1973. The Jersey Devils transitioned into the F-106 and assumed the quick alert status the following year. The Aerospace Defense Command then came under TAC as the Air Defense Tactical Air Command (ADTAC), and then again changed to a numbered Air Force, in this case1st Air Force. During 1988, the unit transitioned into the F-16A/B Fighting Falcon.

Photographed on alert late in the day, the venerable F-106s were soon to be replaced by F-4Ds.

Montana ANG. Can you imagine this beauty being shot down by a missle--intentionally? That's exactly what fate held in store for this 2 seat F-106B of the 120th Fighter Interceptor Group. Converted to a QF-106 drone, it was destroyed 12/96 as a target aircraft.

The F-106B was a two-seat fully combat capable trainer version of the Mach 2.3 Delta Dart and is seen here taxiing towards the end of its career with the 194th FIS. After withdrawal and a period at Andrews, it was carried as an underslung load by CH-54 Skycrane to Atlantic City IAP, NJ, where it was plinth-mounted in the colours of the local 177th FIS. It is wired up so that the external lights work at night and is one of five F-106B's displayed across the US
