The USAFE accepted by Nov'85 18x C-23A Sherpas, all assigned to the 10th Military Airlift Squadron, Zweibrücken (Germany), known by call sign "Pockey". After the end of the Cold War, US EUCOM reduced its footprint and the 10th MAS was deactivated. 8x C-23As were handed over to the US Army. This 84-0465 was not handed over to the US Army but became a civil plane as N172Z with the US Forest Service in Mar'91. Later reregistered to N188LM with US Bureau of Land Management in Nov'91, to Marian Aviation Corporation in Dec'02, as N330FA with Freedom Air in Ap'04 and then withdrawn at Guam in 2013.
