The regiment that restored this Yak-23 had its number put on it: 1616, whereas its real identity is unknown. It has been preserved here since May 1988 at least and received a paintjob after this picture was taken.

Former Portuguese F-16A 15135 was delivered to Romania in August 2020. In 2024, it participated in exercise Iniochos at Andravida AB in Greece. Operated by Esc 53.

Assigned to Escadrila 53 Vânătoare at Baza 86, Fetesti (Romania). This is a former F-16A Block 15 (USAF 83-1080). First flown on 17 Jul'84, delivered to the 363rd TFW 'SW' at 'Shaw AFB in Aug'84. Served 306th TFS 'ZF' from Jan'86, then 308th TFS 'HS', then 704th TFS 'TX' from Sep'91. Stored at AMARC on 12 Sep'94, inventory code AAFG0221. Left AMARG on 29 Sep'99. Refurbished at Hill (UT) for Portugal and transferred on 30 Jul'99 under Peace Atlantis II program. Received serial 15135 with Esq 301. Upgraded (MLU) to Block 20 in 2001/2002. Sold to Romania under the Peace Carpathi I on 14 Aug'20

Preserved at a bus stop in Bielany, a satellite town for Kraków. The serial 1616 is not its real serial, it is the number of the regiment that restored the aircraft.
