The J 35 F (Filip) fighter version was delivered between 1965 and 1972 with a total production of 230 units. This variant had improved electronics and avionics and in order to make space for more avionics, the left cannon was removed, with ammunition increased to 120 rounds for the right cannon as compensation. The J 35F existed in two primary variants: J 35F1 was the initial version without an infrared search and track sensor under the nose, however, the later version, J 35 F2, had this sensor.

On 4 March 1996, this J35F was delivered to the Swedish Air Force. It served with several flottilj and for like many other Drakens its last unit was F10. Since September 2000, it is part of the excellent Aeroseum near Gothenburg.
