Originally with Ansett Australia (VH-RMA), this Electra is pictured undergoing repairs. Damaged on March 12, 2012 when the right main landing gear would not extend, the aircraft was ferried to Red Deer and converted to a fire bomber during repairs. The Electra is current with Buffalo Airways at the time of uploading.

A two-engined L-188 with no props when photographed here but this involuntary star of one of the "Ice Pilots NWT" episodes was restored to full glory, as Tanker 417, by the next Spring. Classic Lockheed and Electra emblems on the nose and matching monster-, pardon, Buffalo-green tow truck.

On "Ice Pilots" we watched this Electra make an emergency landing at Yellowknife March 2012 with a malfunctioning right main gear. The pilots did a great job of minimizing damage and the Electra was later flown to Red Deer for repairs. Active again with Buffalo Airways as Tanker 417

After crash landing in Yellowknife in 2012, this Electra is now configured as Buffalo's second Electra air tanker. "In Memory of Arnie Schreder" is painted on the nose in tribute to Buffalo's former chief pilot.
